Cross Out Your Pasts

“No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead” -Philippians 3:13
A wise man once sat in the audience & cracked a joke. All laughed like crazy. After a moment he cracked the same joke again and a little less people laughed this time. He cracked the same joke again & again, when there was no laughter in the crowd, he smiled and said, “When u can’t laugh on the same joke again & again, then why do u keep crying over the same thing over and over again”
Moral – ‘Forget the past & move on’
there’s so many things we can learn from the short story above. and like what the moral is, yes, “forget the past and move on.” i know i know, it’s easier said than done. but are you trying? are you trying hard enough? every individual in this world will have two things about which he/she worries the most. one being the life he/she has led and the other is the life he/she will live. planning for the future and working towards it is always a wonderful thing as it involves the betterment of an individual. however thinking about the past and letting the past activities rule life is not something that a person should do. so really, it is worth the try.
so, today 11 May 2012, i attended the Pra-World Prayer Assembly, the Student Summit. where hundreds of students in Jakarta gather together to pray for our nation. to me it was a blessing for me to be there. i heard many testimonies about their past, about how broke they are, how lost they are. they’re enslaved by drugs, they rely on drugs. they did anything to get it. i’ll take one of them as an example here. he is rejected by people around him, even by his family. until he had to sleep in the train station for two months wearing the same clothes everyday, eating food from the trash bin. so you see, how broke they are. until one day he met a Man, a Man full of love, kindness, and mercy. amidst all of the sins, all of the flaws, Jesus still accepts him, opening His arms widely. when he admitted all of his sins in front of God, poof, all of them are gone. forgiven. forgotten. and a new page of life, or a new book of life, awaits to be written decently.
it takes ONE decision in life, ONE commitment in self, and ONE turning point in the journey, to change the future ahead of us. we can’t change our past, that’s for sure. so why don’t we learn from the past, and don’t look back anymore, stretch out your hands your legs your sights to what lies ahead of you. a new path to be taken. walking side by side, with Him. and what else will you need? nothing else.
so, today, why don’t we, me and you, make a decision to forget about the past, turn to God, and live a life that you never expected. learn from the past. don’t fall for the same problem twice.
this girl over here can’t talk more. thanks for reading, comments? welcome!
